![]() ONE HAND CLAPPING By Chris Ryall 2009-02-02 - TV Recommendations TV RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE WEEK BEGINNING FEBRUARY 2, 2009:MONDAY, FEBRUARY 2 HOUSE -- 8 PM, Fox 100 episodes of the show means that for 100 times, House has been the maverick striking out on his own and teaching us all life lessons. Or something. I've managed to miss the last 98 episodes, so maybe things have changed since I last watched. I LOVE MONEY 2 -- 9 PM, VH-1 (Season Premiere!) A lot of reality-show castoffs join up for the chance to be reality-show cast-offs twice over. TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 3 SCRUBS -- 9 PM, ABC Not entirely sure why ABC's in a hurry to burn off episodes of the show by going back-to-back every week, but still, an hour of shows each weeks beat an hour of THE MENTALIST. WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 4 GEORGE CARLIN: THE MARK TWAIN PRIZE -- 9 PM, PBS The only bad thing about a show where people like Jon Stewart and Denis Leary fete Carlin is the fact that George can't be here to collect the prize himself. LIFE ON MARS -- 10 PM, ABC Eric Balfour guests on the show tonight, which means it'll likely be cancelled soon. Althought that'd be a shame because I finally realize that this show's a lot of fun. Took me a while to come around and actually watch it, but it works well. THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 5 THE OFFICE -- 9 PM, NBC Tony Teofilo, a guy who used to write for me at the old MoviePoopShoot site, and who has a piece in the new issue of Wizard magazine, did some extra work on this show tonight and next week, so this nod is all for him. 30 ROCK -- 9:30 PM, NBC Jon Hamm from MAD MEN guests on the show tonight and...well, there's likely a good line in here somewhere but I'm not entirely feeling it. FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 6 JOCKEYS -- 9 PM, Animal (Series Premiere!) This new documentary series looks at jockeys, and the horse they rode in on. Wow, I've really got nothing this week, do I? SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 7 GIFTED HANDS: THE BEN CARSON STORY -- 8 PM, TNT Cuba Gooding Jr. continues his post-Oscar...whatever this is. Still, playing a renowned doctor is a step up from playing RADIO, right? iCARLY -- 8 PM, Nick David Archuleta guest-stars tonight, which makes me realize that even good guest-stars are getting cut back in this recession. THE GOOD WITCH'S GARDEN -- 9 PM, Hallmark Catherine Bell plays a good witch here in this sequel. And somehow the idea of Catherine Bell playing a witch just somehow works for me. If I was ever inclined to watch Hallmark, that is. All listings are Pacific Standard Time and all opinions would've gone for it on fourth and inches. |
